I recently started back my health journey and decided to use an app to help me stay on track. The app use the concept of measuring your calorie intake on a daily bases. I would log in everything I ate, I mean everything. Even if I took a bite of something I would log it in, because I wanted to be brutally honest with myself with how much I was really consuming. To me it worked like an accountability partner. At first I felt really good and proud of myself for sticking to it but then when I add things I rather not, it became a little too real. Eating over the allotted calories suggested made me feel a little restricted and almost like I was developing an unhealthy relationship with the app. So, I realized that even though the app was very helpful in tracking and recording my progress it should not turn to something legalistic where I feel like a failure if I go over that amount. I should be proud for eating a little more healthy, making better choice and being more aware of what I was selecting. I learned tools are there to help you not to control you and you’re boss for just trying.
